Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart is one of the Fortune 500 companies in the state, and their largest event is the annual Shareholders Meeting, which is held in Fayetteville each year and brings in Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club associates from across the globe.
J.B. Hunt Transport Services
Another of Arkansas’s Fortune 500 companies, this transportation company was started with five trucks in 1961. They now own more than 12,000 trucks and employ 22,000 people worldwide.

University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
UAMS is the only academic health and science university in Arkansas and it’s the largest public employer. There are more than 10,000 employees in all but two counties across the state.

Baptist Health, Inc.
Baptist Health is the state’s largest and most comprehensive not-for-profit health care organization.
The original hospital opened its doors with less than a hundred beds in 1921 and served 1,315 patients during its first year of operation. It now has more than 250 points of access that include 11 hospitals, urgent care centers, a senior living community, and over 100 primary and specialty care clinics in Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma.
The system also offers a college with studies in nursing and allied health, a graduate residency program, and access to virtual care through a mobile app. They currently employ over 11,000 people.
